Amaya Raine is an all-around character introduced in 2020. She's a student at Rainbow High that focuses in Fashion Design.
Character Description
Amaya's stand out style with dramatic textures and edgy details are a perfect fit for Rainbow High. She's a fashion designer, who made a big name for herself in her small town, because she wasn't afraid to stand out. She creates showstopping looks with vibrant colors and glam details and she dreams of setting major fashion trends. Amaya can't wait for her chance to attend her dream school, but Rainbow High won't be exactly like Amaya expected.
Fortunately, Amaya is as bold and daring as her fashion designs, because she’ll have to turn her color up and embrace her rainbow to make her mark in a school full of so much amazing talent. Amaya's one-of-a-kind style and spirit will truly make the runway come to life.
Looks
Physical Appearance[]
Amaya is a pale-skinned teenage girl. In Series 1, because she wasn't afraid to stand out, she had long straight white hair with platinum tinsel and rainbow peek-a-boo highlights on the lower layer of her hair. Her eyes are blue with a tint of purple. Her makeup consists of glittery pink, violet, and platinum eyeshadow and pale pink lips.
In Series 2, her complexion and eye design remain the same. Her hip-length hair is now styled with curly waves (mostly blue) and streaks of other colors resembling the rainbow. Her eyeshadow is also done in a colorful rainbow palette and she has bright red lips.
For Amaya’s 24 inch doll, her complexion and eye design remains the same as Series 2, but her eye makeup now is only faint blue and green and her lips are now rosy pink.
In the animated series, her Series 1 appearance was used with her hair being much shorter. Also in the show, she has rainbow streaks instead of a rainbow under-color. In her Series 2 appearance, her hair is shown to be mostly blue with a few streaks of other colors such as yellow and green.
Outfits[]
Amaya in her Series 1 attire wears a white crop top, a white mini skirt with rainbow stitching, a clear jacket with black, orange, lime and sky blue outlines, and black knee-high boots with straps that says "STAR" "MAGIC" "SPARKLE" and "RAINBOW".
In Series 2, Amaya's signature outfit consists of a black sparkle shirt; over it is a short rainbow sequin strapless dress with a black belt and zippers. She has shimmery socks and black heels with clear straps that say "RAINBOW" written in gold.
In her alternate outfit, Amaya wears a black denim crop coat with rainbow strands on the sides over her dark blue sparkly dress. She also wears black thigh high stockings and black shoes with white laces.
Amaya’s runway outfit is a dress with a white iridescent pleated bodice, with a rainbow underskirt, that transforms to become floor-length. She also wears a silver belt around the bodice, and silver and rainbow high heels. Her hair is styled into a high ponytail.
For her 24 inch doll, she wears a black sports bra-like top with gold trimmings and a white hoodie that has a print with the Rainbow High logo in it, a black denim jacket with black print with various words on it and cutouts on the sleeves, a black tweed skirt with rainbow threads and frayed edges, a gold charm belt that has pendants that say "RAINBOW", white thigh-high socks and her footwear are black and white heels with a golden "R" and "H" and pearl soles. She accessorizes with gold earrings that have "RH" pendants and a black leather purse shaped like a trunk that has the word "RAINBOW" embroidered in gold and held by gold chains.
In Junior High, Amaya wears an oversized white hoodie with “I DON’T SPEAK FASHION, I AM FASHION” written in black letters, with a black and rainbow bouclé skirt. She also wears thigh-high black lace-up boots, with the word “RAINBOW” embroidered in gold. Her hair is styled into a high ponytail with a short strand on the sides, and she wears two gold barrettes, one with the word “SPARKLE” and the other “RAINBOW” on them.
For her Rainbow World outfit, Amaya wears a cropped, light blue denim jacket over a sleeveless, form-fitting dress that features a gradient rainbow pattern, starting with pink and transitioning through various colors like green, yellow, blue, and purple. The dress is covered with sequins, giving it a sparkly, shimmering effect. She also wears clear platform sneakers that have a pink tint.
Personality
Amaya is quickly introduced as being a very friendly, outgoing, and empathetic person. Right after entering Rainbow High and discovering she was taking Bella's place, she instantly felt sorry and tried to fix it. Later on she also shows her clumsy and somewhat insecure side, often feeling like she needs to prove herself to her friends and teammates. When she does find her place in the group however, her creative and artistic side comes out and shines brighter than ever. Being a fashion student, she finds a way to leave her mark on everything, always volunteering to help anyone out with a fashion problem. Along with these qualities, she is also shown to be rather silly and sometimes socially awkward, being best seen in the beginning of her relationship with River. When she finally feels comfortable with him and everyone else though, she truly comes out of her shell and shines in every color of the rainbow.
Etymology
Amaya[]
Amaya meaning the end; mother city; heavenly valley. Amaya is a feminine name of primarily Spanish and Japanese origin.
Raine[]
Raine meaning nickname from Old French Raine 'frog' ( from Latin rana).
Relationships
Pet[]
Rainbowie[]
While not much has been seen so far, Rainbowie seems to be close and comfortable with Amaya, often being seen running around and playing with her and the other pets.
Family[]
Opal Raine[]
Opal is Amaya's sister. Since Opal is a bookworm, Amaya didn't have time to bond with her or practice talents with her for ignoring Amaya. She runs after her and apologizes for ignoring her, reuniting them to perform the previously choreographed dances at the talent show, which goes very well and bonds them as sisters.
Friends[]
Ruby Anderson[]
From the beginning, Ruby only saw Amaya as Bella's replacement and nothing else. Alongside Jade, she held a grudge against Amaya in spite of her trying to convince Ruby otherwise. Her opinion was mostly changed however when Amaya introduced her to the Color Change Chamber, which made Ruby realize Amaya's talents and skills she can truly bring to the group.
Poppy Rowan[]
While she was initially unsure of Amaya due to her being Bella's replacement, Poppy grew to appreciate Amaya as part of her runway group, however they do not interact one on one much. This all changes after they she helps motivate Poppy by helping her find a better passion in baking when she doesn’t want it to just be music, strengthening their bond far more.
Sunny Madison[]
Sunny was also the first to welcome Amaya, and overall was the friendliest towards her despite the awkward situation surrounding Bella's expulsion. She was the only one who really noticed and complimented Amaya. Their bond grew over the time they had to work together.
Jade Hunter[]
Starting out Jade had the biggest grudge towards Amaya out of everyone, agelessness initially only seeing her as Bella's replacement. Even with her best efforts Jade remained rather bitter towards Amaya, being passive aggressive and dismissive of her ideas and plans for their shared runway project. This did eventually change however, as after Amaya revealed the Color Change Chamber Jade realized that Amaya is rather talented and is her own person, allowing them to see each other as equals.
Skyler Bradshaw[]
Amaya and Skyler have become decently close friends, mostly to their shared love of fashion and them both majoring in it. They did however start off more cold, with Skyler initially seeming intimidated by Amaya and her shared fashion focus.
Violet Willow[]
Right after Amaya came to Rainbow High, Violet was one of the more welcoming of the group towards her. She in particular quickly offered to put a segment of Amaya onto her show The Vi Life, something she agrees to.
Bella Parker[]
Amaya and Bella initially had a distant relationship, due to Amaya being Bella's replacement. While Amaya was unaware of this, Bella still appeared to strongly hold this against her, turning it into anxiety. These hard feelings seem to have died down due to Bella being back at Rainbow High and back with all her friends, now including Amaya.
Daphne Minton[]
On The Vi Life Violet revealed that Amaya bonded with Daphne at sleepaway camp and that's when they started being friends, And they even decided to work on the same Radiant Week Project.
Romance[]
River Kendall[]
In the animated series, she started liking him when the cheer guidelines were given in the episode, "Bring On Rainbow Cheer". In "Amaya's Time", River asked her other out after a lot of awkward failed attempts. Amaya agreed to this. In "Rainbow Vision Rifts "Audition Begins"" however, things took a turn for the worse when River felt like he needed a break from them and broke up with her. Then in "Dance It Out" she wouldn't let him talk and was very mad showing that she might never forgive him. However in "...Now On with the Show!" after Natasha's performance was sabotaged from the perfume sent being turned on and malfunctioned, Amaya was looking for River, she asked Luna and Natasha if they have seen him, after they found each other they hugged on the stairs, then they stopped and give each other a smile, showing that they might be on good terms.
Enemies[]
Holly and Laurel De'Vious[]
They both seem to hate Amaya for her clumsiness and awkwardness, being best shown during Amaya's audition for their play. River dating Amaya is probably is what fueled this distaste. During this they accuse Amaya of being jealous of Georgia, claiming she doesn't want River to kiss her. Laurel later accuses Amaya of sabotaging the play. This is changed once they see how talented she is.
Gabriella Icely[]
Gabriella is snarky and rude to Amaya because of her similar abilities. She mocks Amaya being on the waitlist for Rainbow High. Gabriella is also shown to crave attention and admiration, being best seen by her competitive spirit and rivalry with Amaya. However, this fades away after she sees what Amaya is truly capable of.

Trivia
- Amaya is the first and only character to have both a Series 1 and Series 2 doll.
- In early promo images of her doll on the back of the box she's seen wearing a coat of which went unreleased. It's unknown whether or not the coat has a possibility to appear in a fashion pack in the future.
- Amaya's name is a play on the phrase "end of the rainbow" as her first name means "the end" while her surname is a pun on rainbow.
- Amaya's Series 1 doll was a Toy Book 2021 Doll of the Year Finalist along with all of the other Series 1 dolls.
- In the animated series, Amaya was not shown in her Season 2 outfit until "The Jett Dawson".
- In the animated series, Amaya's Series 1 hair is very similar, if not entirely the same as Avery's first tinsel wig she wears in When the GLAM Hits The Fan. The color and texture is the only change, as everything in the structure is the same, with Amaya even having some black curly hair: therefore, it is heavily possible that Amaya's Series 1 hair is in fact a recolor of Avery's former wig.
- On the back of an early released Bella Parker packaging, Amaya's shirt says "Rainbow" but on the doll it says "Sparkle". This is due to the first being a prototype.
- Similar to Ruby Anderson, Amaya Raine comes from a small town.
- Amaya claims she changed her hair color to be mostly blue because it's "the color of calm".
- She used to be a redhead in junior high according to The Vi Life "Junior High Pop Quiz!"

- Amaya's series 1 jacket is inspired by Wanda Nylon transparent raincoat.
- Amaya's series 2 shoes are inspired by Balenciaga lego heels.
