Character Description
You've probably heard of Ruby before you ever met her. She blazes new style trails, because she creates and wears hype-worthy looks that are totally fire. Like that time she filled a teacher's office with a giant statue.
At Rainbow High, you'll find Ruby always adding that extra bit of fire and edge to everyone's looks and helping her girls bust outta their comfort zone. Because she's all about finding new ways to style her exclusive pieces with sporty glam details.
Looks
Physical Appearance[]
Ruby is a fair-skinned teenage girl with a medium build. She has wavy, hip-length, bright red hair parted to the side and mauvish purple doe-eyes. Her makeup typically consists of glittery gold eyeshadow, red winged eyeliner, natural blush, and pale pink lipstick. Her preferred style is streetwear chic- a sporty-casual mix topped off with her customized shoes and accessories.
Outfits[]
Ruby's signature outfit consists of a white t-shirt emblazoned with a red "Sparkle" logo near the neckline under a red vinyl bustier top. She also wears matching red high-waisted skinny jeans with gold slashes running down the entire length of the legs. She accessorizes with a black baseball cap turned backwards, decorated with a white logo that says "Rainbow" surrounded by flames, and a red flannel plaid shirt tied around her waist. Her shoes are black, heeled sandals with clear vinyl straps and bright red-bottomed soles.
For Ruby's second outfit, she wears a black, red, and white striped tube top zippered on the chest, and a red vinyl miniskirt held in place with a clear belt that buckles and hangs down in the front. Over the outfit, she wears a baggy, black nylon windbreaker decorated with a large red stripe printed with the word "RAINBOWS" in white lettering across the center and a square Rainbow High logo on the back. She tops the outfit off with a pair of black stiletto ankle boots painted with a red-and-yellow fire design- presumably one of the custom kicks that Ruby is known for.
When dressing more casually, Ruby sports a black t-shirt and red vinyl miniskirt. Over her chest, she wears a bright red waist bag with a white "Sparkle" logo and a matching, black "Sparkle" beanie. She accessorizes with gold bangles, a gold 'R' necklace, and a gold-and-black chain belt that spells the word "Rainbow." Her shoes are white tube sock stilettos with red soles.
As a cheerleader, Ruby's outfit consists of a cropped white hoodie, with the red letters "Sparkle" around the hem of the hood. The sleeves have long, rainbow colored flames going up the sides with the black letter "R" at the base. Over this, she wears a cropped, red mesh jersey with the black number "86" on the front. She wears a red pleated cheer skirt with a black and a white stripe on the hem and a white "RH" on one of the pleats. She has low white calf socks, decorated with black block letter words spelling "RAINBOW" going around them. She also sports a pair of red and white athletic sneakers with a stiletto heel, customized with the words "Los Angeles" painted in black across the sides. Her hair is crimped, tied back into a high ponytail with a red-and-white bow, and parted in the middle with four golden hairclips. She has much more dramatic makeup, with red eyeshadow styled to resemble flames, bright red lipstick, and a fireball logo holding the phrase "RH!" painted onto her left cheek.
For Ruby's runway outfit, she wears a black turtleneck crop top with red straps under a bright red long-sleeves dress with black belts, which can be unbuckled and turned into a long red skirt. Ruby also wears red heels with gold soles and a black beanie.
For her first Winter Break outfit consists of a white turtleneck shirt worn underneath red, black, and white snow pants with a "Sparkle" logo spelt on her chest. Over this she wears a matching red, black, and white zip up jacket, and she pairs the outfit with black and red snow boots. Her hair is long and wavy at the ends, being its usual crimson red color. She wears glittery gold eyeshadow, red winged eyeliner, and small amounts of light pink blush, while her lips are light pink. She accessorizes with a deep red toque hat with a red pompom and matching sequins.
For her second Winter Break outfit, she has a black crop top that says "Rainbow" in yellow, and over this she has a bright red fluffy jacket. She also wears a red checkered pencil skirt, red and white socks, and large black and red ice skates.
Ruby wears a black, white, and red long sleeved turtleneck shirt underneath bright red overalls that have "Sparkle" written in white all over them for her Junior High outfit. She pairs this with white socks that go with her red checkered sneakers with white laces. Ruby has her red hair worn mostly down with some tied up at the top with a white scrunchie that says "Sparkle" in red, having big curls near the tips. She wears two golden hair clips and a necklace. She also wears red and burnt orange eyeshadow with pink blush with glossy pink lipstick.
For her Rainbow World outfit, Ruby wears a white t-shirt emblazoned with a gold "Sparkle" logo near the neckline under a red bustier top, with a red plaid shirt tied around her waist. She also wears an iridescent gold skirt as well as red sneakers with high soles that is designed to fill liquid rainbow.
In her Swim and Style outfit, Ruby wears a one-shoulder red one-piece swimsuit with a gold “RH” pattern, with red high heeled sandals with “RH” written on them in white. She also wears gold sunglasses with red-tinted frames and a red beach bag with “Rainbow High” written on it in white.
Personality
Ruby is characterized by her casual, outgoing personality. Though not as much of a tomboy as Jade Hunter, she has a rather sporty style and a very informal demeanor that makes it easy for her to get along with just about anyone. She strongly values friendship and is always the first to hype up her girls or help them step out of their comfort zones. This also makes her an effective mediator when tensions run high in her runway group due to project-related stress. She may not be the most tactful person, but she's an incredibly loyal girl who wants to keep her friends feeling- and looking- their best. Despite her usually friendly attitude, however, her devotion to her friends can cause her to be stubborn and resistant to change in their dynamics.
When it comes to relationships, she's been shown to be somewhat shy when it comes to flirting with boys. Still, she has no tolerance for those who don't treat their partners well, and especially boys who hurt her friends. She previously developed a mutual attraction and flirt-ationship with Colin, but shut it down immediately upon learning that he was Skyler's boyfriend and prioritized her friend's feelings over her own.
Like most students at Rainbow High, Ruby is an exceptionally creative artist. Her hobbies mainly revolve around customizing her shoes and accessories, but she's also been mentioned to possess a mischievous streak that incorporates her artwork into pranks around the school.
Relationships
Pet[]
Razzberry[]
While everyone is initially bonding with their pets, Ruby is unable to hatch Razzberry, with this hurting her feelings. After her friends help her out, she approaches Razzberry calmer, with them giving them enough courage and comfort to hatch from their crystal. Once hatches, both them and Ruby have bonded quite a lot and are close partners.
Family[]
Apple Anderson[]
Apple is Ruby's younger sister. Although not much is known, they seem to go along very well as they performed the talent show together.
Friends[]
Poppy Rowan[]
Although they don't interact much, they are still friends since they hang out with each other often in their main group of friends.
Sunny Madison[]
Despite having very different personalities, Sunny and Ruby get along rather well, despite Ruby being dry and sarcastic and Sunny being cheerful as can be.
Jade Hunter[]
Her and Jade have similar tastes and they seem to be good friends as well as roommates. They were both the most upset when Bella got expelled and the video of her went viral.
Skyler Bradshaw[]
Skyler and Ruby start off as casual friends, however they become very bonded after Skyler discovers that Colin is going out with Ruby behind her back. Ruby, being totally unaware that Colin was Skyler's boyfriend, abandons him and searches for Skyler. Now crying, Ruby comforts Skyler and lets her know she has no plans to mess with her relationship. Skyler opens up to Ruby, letting her know how much she cared for Colin. In response to this, Ruby builds up Skyler's confidence again, greatly strengthening their friendship.
Violet Willow[]
While they got along at first, Ruby and Violet quickly hit a few roadblocks in their relationship. Starting out they always had very different personalities, with Violet being a glamorous diva and Ruby not wanting any of that, but their relationship boiled over when Violet shared Bella's expulsion online. Ruby was very offended and teamed up with Jade to get back at her, embarrassing Violet with her private videos. They did make up after this though, with Ruby embarrassing herself instead as an apology.
Bella Parker[]
With them initially being roommates, Bella and Jade had a very close bond, with them and Jade often hanging out as a group. When it was revealed that Bella was expelled, Ruby, along with Jade, were the most upset and defiant about her leaving out of everyone. Ruby somewhat took this frustration out on Amaya, who she deep down knew was not at fault. When Bella did come back however, Ruby was especially ecstatic about her returning to Rainbow High.
Amaya Raine[]
In a similar vein to Jade, Ruby was heavily reserved and put off by Amaya when she first came to Rainbow High, seeing her as Bella's replacement. Despite Amaya's best efforts to break through to her, Ruby initially wanted no part of her. Her opinion was mostly changed however when Amaya introduced her to the Color Change Chamber, which made Ruby realize Amaya's talents and skills she can truly bring to the group.
Kia Hart[]
Ruby and Kia first meet when Ruby applies for a job at the Rainbow Union. Kia then shows her the ropes of the job, but Ruby has lots of trouble getting the hang of everything. This boils over when Ruby believes she's been fired, only to realize that she got the job and Kia has faith in her abilities.
Emi Vanda[]
On The Vi Life, Violet mentions that Ruby and Emi do jigsaw puzzles at the Rainbow Union. They also worked together for Radiant Week and painted a room by using forced perspective.
Daria Roselyn[]
Ruby helped her write her song because she was stuck and didn't what to write next and Ruby helped her write it and she was at the rainbow union so, they should be good friends
Jewel Richie[]
In Rainbow World episode 7, they are revealed to be in the same classes and friends
Former Romance[]
Colin[]
Ruby and Colin's relationship begins harmlessly enough, with both of them flirting. This ends with Ruby asking him out to the Color Block Party, something he agrees to. At the party they first appear to be very happy, until they are caught by Skyler. Realizing that Colin (ex-boyfriend) was cheating on Skyler with her, Ruby immediately left him in the dust and ran to Skyler's side to help her through his breakup with him.
Enemies[]
Laurel and Holly De'Vious[]
They don't get along and Ruby finds them quite bossy. Like the rest of her friends she isn't too fond of them.
