The Eclipse - Phase One, Part Two is thirty-eighth episode released for the animated series Rainbow High, and the fifth episode of Season 3.
Official Description
Why is everything always about Rainbow High?! Shadow High has some BIG demands to make things fair for everyone else. For starters, they want all schools to have the chance to host the annual Rainbow Vision music competition. Because of them, schools across the world are casting their votes on Shadow High's website for who should host this year's show!! What will happen?!
Plot
Just like in the previous episode, Luna begins by hijacking Rainbow High's livestream and terrifying everyone. Having everyone's attention she speaks for her school and talks about how they are tired of being forgotten in the shadows and are rising up. She also states that they'll be asking other schools to join their rebellion, and that Rainbow High is in trouble. She then ends the livestream and is taken off the air by Gabriella.
All being in shock, Violet, River, and the rest of the Rainbow High team awkwardly end the stream and try to understand what happened. Word of this spreads throughout the school, worrying Holly and Laurel into thinking they won't be the hosts. While everyone is panicked, the Shadow High students are celebrating their victory and even gaining the support of other schools. This causes Rainbow High to host a final meeting in their auditorium with Ms. Wright.
Being on the stage in front of her students, Ms. Wright reveals to everyone that they'll be in competition with other schools to host Rainbow Vision this year, infuriating Holly and Laurel. After this the Rainbow High students go to Shadow High to host the competition, and tensions are rising. As for Veronica and Naomi however, they are excited with their fellow Shadow High students having tricks up their sleeve, ending the episode on a chilling note.
Trivia
Errors[]
- Georgia can be seen both in a corridor in the hallway of the Rainbow High School and in the Rainbow Union.
Other[]
- In this episode, it is announced that, according to Ms. Wright's words, "the host showdown" will take place at Shadow High. However, it is later seen that the rest of the contest, starting from the auditions, are in fact held at Rainbow High (as seen by the stage change, and by the backstage locations), something which confused many fans. This could be explained by two theories:
- Either that the location of the contest was indeed changed last minute to Rainbow High, probably because of budgeting issues for the creation of new Shadow High-fitting backstage locations, or either in an attempt to erase the Shadow High location (as the Shadow High school doesn't reappear after the end of the eclipse).
- Or, that Ms. Wright's words were misinterpreted, as she actually meant that only the contest for the host was going to be held at Shadow High (which explains the location change). This theory is also confirmed by other international dubs such as the French dub, which translates "the host showdown" to "the host contest".
- This episode once again hints at Ainsley Slater's alliance to Shadow High.
- When it was first released, the episode was mistakenly title "The Eclipse - Phase Two". The title was quickly changed, as indeed the Storm twins hint the second phase of the Eclipse project only at the end of the episode.
- Luna calls Violet "Purple" after laughing, hinting that they know each other since Sunny is her childhood best friend.
